Current Release Wines

We release all of our wines twice a year through our mailing list. The wines below are what's available for purchase at this moment.

2020 Peay Vineyards Savoy Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley

The wine is less floral than in cooler vintages featuring more fruit and earth flavors. There is a little meatiness along with the cherry, blackberry and plum notes. Minor hints of sage and lead pencil frame the fruit.

2020 Peay Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

The Bing cherry notes come to the fore as you sip the wine, an aroma I consider an Ama quality, adding a raspberry note as the wine moves to the back of the mouth.

$74.00 |750mL

2020 Peay Vineyards Pinot noir, Sonoma Coast

The palate is soft, juicy and round with some cherry licorice and mineral notes added. The finish has slightly salivating acidity with hints of the earthy, dried forest floor notes common to our wines though less than in the 2019 or 2018 Sonoma Coast Pinots.

$48.00 |750mL

2020 Peay Vineyards Estate Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast

The fruit expression hints at tree fruits like apples and pears but keeps the other foot in the citrus bowl. There are indications of barrel richness tamed by powerful acidity and freshness.

$64.00 |750mL

2020 Peay Vineyards Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast

This wine reminds me very much of a Chardonnay from Meursault. The nose is exotic and engaging with lemon meringue and buttered brioche aromas touched off by a hint of flint smoke.

$48.00 |750mL

2020 Peay Vineyards Estate Viognier, Sonoma Coast

Peay Viognier does not often resemble the typical French or American Viognier in style. This is due to our very cold location for growing this grape variety.

$54.00 |750mL

2019 Peay Vineyards Les Titans Estate Syrah, Sonoma Coast

$70.00 |750mL

2020 Cep Vineyard Estate Pinot noir, Sonoma Coast

The aroma of the 2020 Cep Pinot noir leaps out of the glass exploding with red fruits like pomegranate, raspberry, apple skin, black cherry and plum. There is real fruit impact and the texture is smooth, soft and round. This is a crowd-pleasing Pinot noir with some savory elements but mainly the fruit is leading the show. You can drink this now and in the next 5 years.

$37.00 |750mL

2019 Cep Vineyards Estate Syrah, Sonoma Coast

The 2019 Cep Syrah is another great Syrah, particularly when you consider the price. It is true to its cold climate Syrah roots with a quite appealing red berry driven nose with hints of iodine, olive, and juniper berries.

$37.00 |750mL

2018 Peay Vineyards Elanus Estate Pinot noir, West Sonoma Coast

Vanessa only makes an Elanus wine in vintages when we have an embarrassment of superior barrels and producing a tête de cuvée will not negatively impact our estate blends. The 2018 vintage was such a vintage. All of the wines we made express an extra dimension; more density in the mid-palate and layers of aromas that unfold with time in the glass and, I imagine, in the bottle. I tasted the 2018 Elanus Pinot noir last week in preparation for the release. It had been three years since bottling and I was really impressed at the time by the complexity and the impact of the wine. That impression has not abated, far from it.

The nose is a succession of boysenberry, marionberry, and black cherry aromas cradled in a sweet cherry tobacco embrace. With more air, notes of red apple and brown spice begin to emerge. The impact I mentioned above is immediate as you take a sip. The fruit expression is not heavy or viscous yet there is incredible depth of flavor. The fruit aromas are framed by a mineral/graphite note and the wine lingers on the back palate with the dried pine needles, mushroom quality found in all our red wines. The acidity is juicy and fresh making you salivate as you swallow.

This is a really, really special bottle of wine. Drink one when it arrives to assess it. I have little doubt it will age and evolve for as long as you desire as the structure is built to last, so maybe save a few bottles for later on down the road. I plan to.
