2022 Peay Vineyards West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
The 2022 bursts out of the glass with a beam of dark raspberry, pomegranate, orange zest, and black trumpet mushroom aromas. In addition to the fruit aromas, a little tea, sour cherry, brass, and bark frame the wine in the aftertaste and finishes with our hallmark fresh acidity making you salivate.
The West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is 81% Estate fruit and 19% fruit from our neighbor, Richardson Vineyard, who grows grapes for us and provides grazing sheep for weed control. The other wineries who buy fruit from this vineyard have already vineyard-designated their Richardson wines and charge up to 2x the price of our West Sonoma Coast Pinot. Just saying. The 2022 bursts out of the glass with a beam of dark raspberry, pomegranate, orange zest, and black trumpet mushroom aromas. Where the 2021 was more reserved in the nose the 2022 has more impact. The flavors are seamless on the palate and not at all disjointed despite its youthfulness. In addition to the fruit aromas above, a little tea, sour cherry, brass, and bark frame the wine in the aftertaste and finishes with our hallmark fresh acidity making you salivate. This is not a heavy or rich wine and has intensity and power without fat. I expect it will age as long as you desire. Serve with seared fish, meat, anything with a little caramelization.
