2025 Cep Vineyards Hopkins Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley
The 2025 Hopkins Sauvignon Blanc continues to sell out almost immediately due to its singularity and, well, its deliciousness. A large reason for that is the old vine clone of Sauvignon Blanc Bob Hopkins planted 45 years ago and we are lucky enough to source. This just does not taste like other Sauvignon Blancs from Sonoma, California, or anywhere in America. The impression is more European (Loire?) in intensity though not as green or grassy. The nose is arresting with star fruit, guava, lemon thyme and marjoram aromas each taking a turn on the dance floor. The mouthfeel is direct and linear with salivating acidity. Flavors of unripe melon, limestone and salt linger on the tongue long after the last swallow. Alas, we buy all the fruit Bob grows in this block so we make only 500 cases.
